A Side Trip to Baras Bird Sanctuary with Family

Travel or discovery of a new place need not take a lot of planning, all you need a heart for adventure. Our family is off to Tacurong City to visit the wake of my 2nd cousin. We got there quiet early because we have to drop Browie for his mass dance practice  then we went straight to Tacurong City. With nothing to do after visiting the wake, we decided to swing by Baras Bird Sanctuary.
Baras Bird Sanctuary is a privately owned 1.3 hectare peppercorn farm owned by Mr. Rey Malana.  It has been a sanctuary to migratory birds that started with just 4 egrets in 1996 to thousands birds finding home in this riverside property. Located in Brgy. Baras, Tacurong City and with an entrance fee of Php 25.00, one can have a relaxing walk with the beautifully conducted chippings of birds along the green shaded path around the farm.

It was fun looking for those birds nesting atop trees based on the sounds we heard. Even Mama and Papa were so excited and happy to point to us the birds, like we were small kids visiting an aviary. The time we spent with our parents will always be the best no matter how old we get, we will forever be childlike whenever we are with them.
