Estancia is a Spanish word for "ranch," originally a ranch owned by a wealthy Spaniard who intermarried a local. It is also known as the "Alaska of the Philippines," because of its rich fishing grounds.
During our visit, we still saw the remnants of Typhoon Yolanda around, but with the Filipinos resilience Estancia will soon recover and stand again. And the best thing I can say about it's people, the nicest and always ready to lend a helping hand. All the tricycle drivers we met, willingly waited for us to use the ATM and even shop dried for fish without charging us. The goodness in their hearts will eventually be paid off by our Father in Heaven.
