Nogas is lighthouse island off the shore of Brgy. Siraan
Anini-y, Antique. The journey to Antique is as exciting as it can be, as we get
in the bus at Molo Terminal and hear a different sway and “rrr,” we knew we are
off to an exciting adventure. We took
the Ceres bus bound for San Jose, but you must check it first, ask for the one that passes by Siraan. The people of Panay are the nicest, helpful and kindhearted, always ready to help and give you the right direction.
We got down at the Siraan Hot Spring, at the gate
there are Municipal Tourism staff who will assist you. You have to pay an
entrance fee of Php60.00 per person that is for the Siraan Hot Spring and Php
20.00 per person for the environmental fee at Nogas Island. A boat ride to the
island is Php 500.00 good for 10 persons which you have to give directly to the
boatman.
Most of the time visitors bring food with them and
have picnic in the island, but for us, we just take a walk to the lighthouse
and had snacks. Kuya Bangkero waited for us. One of the must do in Nogas Island
is a walk in the Kalachuchi lined path
leading to the lighthouse.
Along the way we can hear a medley of different
birds singing and as we get closer to the lighthouse we saw birds flying from
the trees. As I walk to the lighthouse, I say a little prayer; "that may the island retains its beauty and charm, and I am grateful for the chance of exploring Nogas Island."
