Inside the Biggest Bell in Asia.....Pan-ay, Capiz

Just fifteen minutes ride from Roxas City is the Municipality of Pan-ay, Capiz, by jeepney or tricycle. What makes this 4th class municipality a must visit place in Capiz?
It has the biggest bell in Asia, the Church Bell of Sta. Monica Parish. The bell was cast in 1878 from 70 sacks of coins donated by the town folks. Today, the bell can still be heard within the eight kilometer radius from the Church Bell Tower.

At the time of our visit, we were assisted by a former altar boy Kuya Nonoy. We learned that a day before our visit, Sta. Monica Church was inscribed by the National Museum as a Cultural Treasure.

Beside the church is the parish house, on the second floor is a museum, housing vestments and other religious materials. On the ground floor is the parish office & a souvenir shop.

Mai Lesson's Learned
A treasure created when united. The people of Pan-ay donated those coins to cast a bell that help them protect their community from invaders. But that unity among them still stands to this very day, serving as a reminder that working together can indeed create a treasure worth emulating.
