Nuestra Senora de La Paz Y Buen Viaje & La Paz District Plaza Walkathon

La Paz, Iloilo is home for me, I have lived in this part of Iloilo for two years. And La Paz Church & Plaza is my daily route, from our apartment to school, I used to pass by it. But I never entered La Paz Church nor walked around La Paz Plaza.

La Paz Church is also known as Nuestra Senora de La Paz Y Buen Viaje or Our Lady of Peace & Good Voyage. The image of Lady of Peace & Good Voyage is believed to have protected the voyages of the Spanish Galleon El Almirante, form Mexico to the Philippines and thus the name. It feels good to know this little facts, making our visit to the church more fascinating.

When riding LaPaz jeepney, the church will really catch your attention as it stands right next to Jereos street, facing the LaPaz Plaza. It is a red brick structure in a Neo Classical Style built in 1870.

Just across La Paz Church is another place worth exploring, La Paz District Plaza. Said to be one of the most beautiful plaza in Iloilo City. Inaugurated in 1998 by former President Fidel Ramos and First Lady Amelita Ramos.

During our walk, we saw a man doing his morning exercise in one of the more relaxing side of the plaza, the path walk under the trees. And since its Christmas season, there is a "ferris wheel" in the plaza.
